Describing Words

Black sheets hung in the midnight sky
My body rolled out onto cotton petals
So cool against my skin.
Candles flickered against the walls
Competing with the moonlight
Your silhouette dripped from every corner of our room.
Tree frogs peeped back and forth like a young heart beat
Inside the ribs of our swamp.
Summer waves crashed into my window
The air smelled like you.
Your sticky skin expelled heat onto me
Forbidding me to tie the midnight black sheets together, toss them below
And escape into the nectary-wet darkness.
I fell asleep in your arms.
