"All my friends are embryionic

All my friends are dead and gone
All my friends are microscopic
All my friends wake up alone

Girl germs lead to little virus
Revolution come and die
Elitists who eat the virus
Sleep with me, wake up alive

You're gutless

You can try to suck me dry
But there's nothing left to suck
Just you try to hold me down
Come on, try to shut me up

Step and fetch, grease my hips
I don't even have to pause
I don't really miss God
But I sure miss Santa Clause

Gutless
You're gutless
Gutless
You're undressed"

I'M ON

I'm slowly drifting to you
This star is a planet
I culinate
The beauty gets away from you
I'm on my way
I'm on
I'm on

My Anchor

I unconditionally
Dropped my anchor
Into dismal waters
Only to watch you sail on.

I miss you.

October

"...you are the most significant point of continuity in your life. Your path through the universe is consistent; the people around you will come and go. To get to this spot, you may have to pass through a sense of loneliness or isolation (or the fear of this potential). But something is waiting for you on the other side. I believe this will be a crucial step in transitioning toward your authentic personhood and independence."

Everybody's got a hungry heart.

I don't give a fuck.

If it shine or if it rain,
Little will I care or know.
Days, like drops upon a pane,
Slip, and join, and go.

At my door's another lad;
Here's his flower in my hair.
If he see me pale and sad,
Will he see me fair?

I sit looking at the floor
Little will I think or say
If he seek another door;
Even if he stay.

cha cha cha...

All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.

Cheerleader No More

I've had good times
With some bad guys
I've told whole lies
With a half smile
Held your bare bones
With my clothes on
I've thrown rocks
Then hid both my arms

I don't know what good it serves
Pouring my purse in the dirt

Mourning. Still.

Atomic morsels of grace
Falling around me, on me.
In me.
Belly full with regret.
I'm saying grace
But you wont speak to me anymore.

Let Go.

"Drink up
Baby doll.
Are you in or are you out?
Leave your things behind
'Cause it's all going off without you.
Excuse me
Too busy
You're writing your tragedy.
These mishaps you bubble wrap
When you've no idea what you're like."

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23)
Don’t negotiate too much. In fact, I would say don’t negotiate at all, especially over what is already yours. The people around you want the same things you do; some, or one, is just a little less comfortable with the notion than you are. This may be difficult for you to conceive of, since it’s perfectly desirable to you. If you negotiate, remember that you’re actually participating in someone else’s inner working-out process. It’s better to leave that to them. And it would be great if you remember that you have what this person wants; their issue is that they are likely to be struggling with that desire. Usually we look to others to get us through these things, and we end up getting used as projection screens where others work out their issues. This is precisely what I’m suggesting you step out of the way of. You know that there’s no reason for conflict. You are not in doubt about whether what you, or anyone else, desires is “good” or “legitimate.” I would say that you’re looking for a meeting place where you can share with other willing people. So start with the willing others and then get into the sharing. Whether someone feels willing or ready is really their business. Soon enough anyone with any doubts will figure out that desire is healthy, especially the desire to make contact with others. The conflict is a ruse, and when that ends, something else will be revealed.

Is this it?

It just seems like the american dream is so much easier to attain when mommy and daddy have money.

Describing Words

Black sheets hung in the midnight sky
My body rolled out onto cotton petals
So cool against my skin.
Candles flickered against the walls
Competing with the moonlight
Your silhouette dripped from every corner of our room.
Tree frogs peeped back and forth like a young heart beat
Inside the ribs of our swamp.
Summer waves crashed into my window
The air smelled like you.
Your sticky skin expelled heat onto me
Forbidding me to tie the midnight black sheets together, toss them below
And escape into the nectary-wet darkness.
I fell asleep in your arms.

Empty

"She lifts her skirt up to her knees,
walks through the garden rows with her bare feet, laughing.
I never learned to count my blessings,
I choose instead to dwell in my disasters.
I walk on down the hill,
through grass, grown tall and brown
and still its hard somehow to let go of my pain.
On past the busted back of that old and rusted Cadillac
that sinks into this field, collecting rain.
Will I always feel this way?
So empty, so estranged?"

The Visit

My sister sat next to me in a vacant subway car. We didn't have anything to talk about so I looked at the posters on the wall. The one directly in front of me was written in spanish. I wanted to know what it said but I knew I  would never know. My sister was reading a magazine, her three fingers spread across the shiny cover. Her nails were long, smooth and painted a sheer pink. The car stopped at Union Square and a few people shuffled in. I looked at every face. My sister glanced at a man's shoes.  We were practically out of the door when she looked behind me and said " You forgot your bag!" I jumped, grabbed it and peered at the spanish writing as I ran to catch up to her.

Reconstruction

He mangled memories
Tree frogs in the swamp
I can't listen anymore

for a friend

Be kind to me.

Did they tell you, you should grow up
When you wanted to dream?
Did they warn you, better shape up
If you want to succeed?
I don't know about you, who are they talking to?
They aren't talking to me.

I'm higher than high, lower than deep.
I'm doing it wrong, singing along.

Happiness

I always say I should be happy just to be alive but it's hard to think that way, to be that grateful. Discovering happiness shouldn't be that easy.

So Long February

So I'm waiting for this test to end
So these lighter days can soon begin
I'll be alone but maybe more carefree
Like a kite that floats so effortlessly
I was afraid to be alone
Now I'm scared thats how I'd like to be
All these faces none the same
How can there be so many personalities
So many lifeless empty hands
So many hearts in great demand
And now my sorrow seems so far away
Until I'm taken by these bolts of pain
But I turn them off and tuck them away
'Till these rainy days that make them stay
And then I'll cry so hard to these sad songs
And the words still ring, once here now gone
And they echo through my head everyday
And I dont think they'll ever go away
Just like thinking of your childhood home
But we cant go back we're on our own
Oh, but I'm about to give this one more shot
And find it in myself
I'll find it in myself
So were speeding towards that time of year
To the day that marks that you're not here
And I think I'll want to be alone
So please understand if I dont answer the phone
I'll just sit and stare at my deep blue walls
Until I can see nothing at all
Only particles some fast some slow
All my eyes can see is all I know
Ohh..
But I'm about to give this one more shot
And find it in myself
I'll find it in myself

Let It Burn

"Cause there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew,
All the things you'd say, they were never true, never true,
And the games you'd play, you would always win, always win,

But I set fire to the rain,
Watched it pour as I touched your face,
Well, it burned while I cried,

'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name"

bittersweet

Putzing...

around my apartment today, I found some old photos I took of myself. I had finally lost my baby fat during the rise of the MySpace era so taking photographs of myself could have been a full time job. I miss being this young and stupid.

I am still compelled to take photos of myself. I think I need to constantly prove that I am alive, the way I want to be.

However far away...

Whatever words I say...

For My Sister

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

I Think It's Time To Give Up The Ghost

Another Week

I wake up each morning
Go to work at eight
Come home for dinner
Time to celebrate

So i round up my friends
We made it through another week
We may not have much
But we've got what we need

So we go all night
Until i see his face
Then the party's over
This drink has no taste

He makes me lonely
When he comes around
I tried for years to beat this one down

I've got all my friends
Couldn't ask for more
But he makes me lonely
When he knocks on my door

I'm on my feet, I'm on the floor, I'm good to go.
Now all I need is just to hear a song I know.
I wanna always feel like part of this was mine.
I wanna fall in love tonight.

Winter

driving wheel

Just came up on the midnight special
Hey, how 'bout that
My car broke down in Texas
she stopped dead in her tracks
Just called to tell you that I need you
Just called to tell you how I feel

I feel like some old engine that's lost my driving wheel
I feel like some old engine that's lost my driving wheel

They took my money on the night train north
What a terrible thing
I gave my promise that I will be there with you
by Saturday night
I want to tell you that I need you
I need to tell you how I feel

I feel like some old engine that's lost my driving wheel
I feel like some old engine that's lost my driving wheel

You can't say much in a phone call, babe
You know how it is
I have to tell you one sure thing
Oh, won't you listen to this
I want to tell you that I love you, babe
I want to tell you just how I feel

I feel like some old engine that's lost my driving wheel
I feel like some old engine that's lost my driving wheel

I feel like some old engine that's lost my driving wheel
Some old engine that's lost my driving wheel

I feel like some old engine that's lost my driving wheel

sharing different heartbeats in one night

Bear

There's a bear inside your stomach
The cub's been kicking from within
He's loud, though without vocal chords
We'll put an end to him
We'll make all the right appointments
No one ever has to know
And then tomorrow I'll turn 21

We'll script another show
We'll play charades up in the Chelsea
Drink champagne although you shouldn't be
We'll be blind and dumb until we fall asleep
None of our friends will come
They dodge our calls
And they have for quite a while now
It's not a shock
You don't seem to mind and I just can't see how

We're too old
We're not old, old at all
Just too old
We're not old, old at all

There's a bear inside your stomach
The cub's been kicking you for weeks
And if this isn't all a dream
Well then we'll cut him from beneath
Well we're not scared of making caves
Or finding food for him to eat
We're terrified of one another
And terrified of what that means

But we'll make only quick decisions
And you'll just keep my in the waiting room
And all the while I'll know we're fucked
And not getting unfucked soon
When we get home we're bigger strangers than we've ever been before
You sit in front of snowy television, suitcase on the floor

We're too old
We're not old, old at all
Just too old
We're not old, old at all

No more calls.

No New Year's Day to celebrate
No chocolate covered candy hearts to give away
No first of spring
No song to sing
In fact here's just another ordinary day
No April rain
No flowers bloom
No wedding Saturday within the month of June

No summer's high
No warm July
No harvest moon to light one tender August night
No autumn breeze
No falling leaves

Not even time for birds to fly to southern skies
No Libra sun
No Halloween
No giving thanks to all the Christmas joy you bring
